poster development log (P4,P5)

Poster development log

This is the poster that I have created for the use of advertising my game

In regards to my first poster design the feedback that I received was that the name of my game is not very obvious so it would be a good idea to put it somewhere on the poster also they were able to tell that the monster (bird) was a swallow so they said I should try to make it look different or monstrous and lastly the fire looks to much the same so I should try to morph or deform it so they all look different.

This is something that I created in reaction to the feedback however I also received feedback on this saying that the bird still didn’t look right and the fire still looked strange so I will change the bird and the fire

This is what I have created from the feedback I received and was told that the fire looks more natural and different and the bird now looks like a monster or mutant so this is now my final design

marquee development log(P4,P5)

Marquee design log

For my marquee I knew what kind of font style I would use however I did not know what effect the text would have so I created a prototype marquee with what I wanted the effect to be

And from this I received feedback on my original marquee saying that the background it had did not look right and the material that the text didn’t look like the type of thing that would be melting so I have changed the cracked paint material to a metal one and the background to a dark titanium material and repeated what I did to the original but with different types of material and the feedback I received was that it now looks more natural

images

What you will need to do this tutorial:

Hardware
Why you want it
limitations
Mouse

This will allow you to be able to select and move the images making  the final picture much easier to create

The limitations of a mouse compared to something like a graphics pad is that the graphics pad can give you more accurate drawing however the graphics pad requires a  different kind of hand eye co-ordination than a mouse
HDD
This is a component that stores data on a disc that is located inside the PC which is able to be accessed though going though the computer menus

Software
Why you want it
limitations
Photoshop
Photoshop is a photo manipulation software where you can take photos saved on your hard drive and change and make your pictures this software  is used by many people who are wanting to get in to digital graphics
The limitations of Photoshop compared to paint.exe is that Photoshop has more tools and can give a better result than paint.exe however paint.exe is easier to understand than Photoshop
Photo galleries
This is a piece of software that lets you view the images on your hard drive and show you them in a slide show like a power point presentation
---------

Output medium
Why you want it
Monitor
This will allow you to view what you are doing on the screen making it easier to navigate the menus and see what you are doing with the pictures it presents things to you using pixels.

Plotter
A plotter is like a an early printer but it uses a robotic arm to plot the image and a piece of paper and took longer to produce the image than a printer does now

Tutorial

1.       make sure you have loaded all of your images into Photoshop as different projects (to do this go to file in the top corner and click open and find the images so that they load into Photoshop)

2.     Go to your bird image and use the magic wand tool and click on the background to highlight it, and press delete to remove the back ground until it is transparent.

3.       Now go to the egg picture via the image at the bottom. Use the magic selection brush tool and highlight the egg at the from once you have most of it selected use ctrl J to put it onto another layer and use the eraser tool to remove the excess. (for a more precise removal you can zoom in with the magnify tool)

4.   now make sure you are using the select tool and drag the egg image onto the power plant image on the bottom tab and do the same with the bird image.

5.       once the you have all of you images on the original picture positioned as you want and press ctrl L on each of the layers to edit the light levels of each layer to how you think it should look (to move/ rotate thing easier you can use the free transform tool which is ctrl T to allow you to do this on each object/layer)

6.       like with the bird use the magic wand tool to remove the back ground and drag it to the base picture and adjusts the light levels with ctrl L (once they are in the picture you can use the eraser tool and a soft brush to remove some of the straight edges)

7.       Once you have created the image go to the top corner and click file choose save as and save you image as a .jpg

This is the final image sorry about how it looks not good with elements.
